Then you might be the Business Development Manager International Sungevity is looking for

Sungevity۪s international office is based in Amsterdam, from where new international business is being developed. Sungevity۪s commitment to its mission of spreading solar (the rooftop revolution) continues to drive expansion besides the US also in the Netherlands, Germany and the United Kingdom.

What is the next country we should enter? Which channel partner is most suitable? Should we include battery storage in our customer proposition? Can we accelerate the rooftop revolution۪ by developing a proposition for housing cooperatives?

As Business Development Manager at Sungevity you are responsible for analysing solar markets, identifying potential strategic relationships, preparing business cases, conducting outreach, building relationships and implementing partnership and channel agreements. You actively participate in the formulation and implementation of the International growth strategies to ensure Sungevity meets its international growth ambitions.

What you would be doing

  • You conduct international market-research by executing in depth market/country-research.
  • You develop international business cases and financial models in collaboration with the finance department).
  • Together with the BD Team, you identify, negotiate and secure partnerships with established solar partners in prioritized markets.
  • You prepare presentations to (potential) partners and management on an ad-hoc basis.
  • You are charismatic and network at senior levels internally and externally with a view to identifying significant market trends and spread the Sungevity mission.
  • You manage market entry projects, ensuring that the project results meet the anticipated marketing, technical and financial objectives.
  • You act as account manager for relationships in prioritized markets.


    About you

Preferably, you have a background in the (distributed) energy/utility industry and/or in strategic consulting. At minimum, you recognize yourself in below competencies:

  • You are able to perform in depth analysis of markets, set up models, do desk reviews, generate insights through interviewing market experts, etc.
  • You are at ease with the development of compelling C-level presentations, business cases and perform the associated financial modelling required for such business cases / C- level presentations. You have a keen awareness of the business drivers and how to leverage them.
  • You have excellent project management skills which allow you to efficiently deliver market-entry projects and on board new customers/channel partners onto the Sungevity platform.
  • You possess extensive Business Development expertise, are able to identify potential for new relationships, maintain relationships and you can effectively cope with change.
  • Must-have: Fluency in English (and preferably Dutch as well).
  • Advantage: Fluency in Italian, German and/or French.
